هجوم العمالقة الموسم الرابع الحلقة 18
It seems that Meta, the parent company of the most important social networking sites in the world, Facebook, along with Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger and others, is facing real problems, as the media indicates that the company may have to stop Facebook and Instagram services in the European continent.
According to Mashable, it comes to the annual report of the European Union Securities and Exchange Commission, and the dispute is European data regulations that prevent Meta from ingesting Europeans' data on US servers. Basically, while Meta says the ability to process user data between countries is critical to its business operationally and for ad targeting.
European laws aimed at protecting user privacy by holding users' data within the jurisdiction of the European Union have superseded previous regulations. So, since Meta hasn't been able to access new data-sharing agreements, it threatens to drive away from the continent with Facebook and Instagram.
“If we are unable to transfer data between the countries and regions in which we operate, or if data sharing between our products and services is restricted, it could affect our ability to provide our services, the way we provide our services, or our ability to target advertising.” Next, Meta explains. It believes it will be able to reach new agreements in 2022, but if that does not happen, "it is likely that we will not be able to offer a number of our most important products and services, including Facebook and Instagram, in Europe."
